LPG maintenance orderHon’ble Finance Minister had announced on 26.03.2020 a set of pro-poor initiatives under “Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package” as part of the Economic response to COVID-19. This was aimed at ameliorating the hardships faced by the poor due to economic disruption caused by Corona Virus. As part of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan package, a scheme for providing free LPG cylinders to PMUY beneficiaries for three months w.e.f. 01.04.2020 was implemented..
Under this scheme, amount of Rs. 9670.41 Crore was credited as advance in to the bank accounts of PMUY beneficiaries and 14.17 Crore LPG refills were delivered by OMCs. In this way, the scheme provided much-required safety net to these customers who hail from low socio-economic backgrounds and were hit the hardest during the pandemic.
