Numaligarh Refinery Limited

NRL was incorporated in 1993 and is a Category I Mini Ratna CPSE. Current shareholding in the company is 61.65% BPCL, 26% OIL and 12.35% Govt. of Assam. It operates a 3 MMTPA refinery at Numaligarh in Assam and two marketing terminals at Numaligarh and Siliguri. NRL also has a 42 TMTPA LPG Bottling Plant at Numaligarh. The Company is the largest refiner in North East India and the largest producer of Paraffin Wax in the country

NRL has embarked on a major capacity expansion of its Refinery from 3 MMTPA to 9 MMTPA at an estimated cost of Rs. 22,954 Cr. After approval from CCEA project activities have commenced. This mega project also includes laying of 1398 km pipeline for transporting imported Crude Oil from Paradip, Odisha to Numaligarh and a 654 km product pipeline from Numaligarh to Siliguri

NRL has further ventured into new grounds transcending its core business as a down-stream Company. The 130 KM Indo-Bangla Friendship Pipeline (IBFPL) for transporting products from its terminal at Siliguri to Bangladesh, setting up Country’s first bamboo based 2G Bio-Refinery through joint venture company ‘Assam Bio-Refinery Pvt. Ltd.’ and diversification into the upstream exploration and production business under Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP).
